The Durham District School Board's 2015-2016 operating budget was balanced and included revenues and expenditures of $701,092,350.
The operating budget reflected all changes to provincial funding and the corresponding impact on expenditures.
The budget included operating expenses for two new schools scheduled for opening September 2015, Michaëlle Jean Public School in Ajax and Brooklin High School in Brooklin. The budget continued to support Special Education resources despite changes to Ministry of Education funding formulas that negatively impacted Special Education funding for Durham District School Board. The budget also continued the board practice of allocating all funding received for English as a Second Language (ESL), Safe Schools, Student Success, School Effectiveness, Ontario Focused Intervention Partnership (OFIP) Tutoring, Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) and Literacy and Numeracy to support programs and services for students.
Capital BudgetThe 2015-2016 capital budget included revenues of $67,108,225 and corresponding expenditures of $67,108,225.
Included is $600,000 in Educational Development Charges that will support the purchase of school sites.
The capital budget also includes $41,470,177 of Ministry funded and board approved capital projects, as well as $25,038,048 in interest and debt related financing.
