Hiring Process - Non-Teaching
Education Assistant Positions
Woman_Desk.jpgMinimum requirements for Education Assistant positions are Grade 12 and experience/training in working with young people; however, most candidates have college diplomas in such fields as Early Childhood Education, Youth Care Worker, Nursing or Nursing Assistant, Education Assistant, etc. Many have extensive experience dealing with children with a variety of physical and intellectual disabilities and behavioral or other learning difficulties. The ability to work in a variety of settings is very important.

Early Childhood Education Positions
The requirements for Early Childhood Education positions are : completion of a two(2) year Early Childhood Education Diploma; current registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators; current First Aid and current CPR certification.
 
Other Non-Teaching Positions
Unless otherwise specified, the minimum academic requirement for all non-teaching postings is successful completion of Grade 12. Proof of education must be provided at the time an application is submitted.
 
Casual Positions
From time to time, we add to our pool by reviewing applications. For casual clerical positions, minimum requirements are as described above. A high degree of proficiency in word processing.
Note:  A word processing test is part of the selection process for casual clerical positions.

 
Conditions of Employment
Anyone offered a position with the Durham District School Board will be required to provide a Criminal Background Check satisfactory to the Board as a condition of employment. For some positions, a job-related medical m​ay be required. In all cases, the required information must be provided and approved BEFORE you will be allowed to assume your duties. Specific information about these requirements will be provided AT THE TIME THAT ANY OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT IS MADE.
