The Durham District School Board (DDSB) Twitter account, @DurhamDSB, provides information of interest to all or some DDSB stakeholders, in the form of:
- Information about new items of interest on our website;
- Occasional live-Tweeting from events;
- Coverage during school closures, and other urgent communications;
- Opportunities to provide feedback; and/or
- Photos, or links to photos, from school and Board events.
The account is managed by staff in the DDSB Communications Department, and will generally be updated and monitored during office hours, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m.
In the event of an occurrence requiring live coverage, staff will Tweet as frequently as possible to keep our stakeholders aware of events as they unfold.
The DDSB accepts no responsibility for lack of service due to Twitter downtime.
We welcome feedback from our followers and will make every effort to join in the conversation. Still, we may not be able to reply individually to all Twitter Direct Messages (DM) or @Replies. We will read all @replies and DMs, but may not be able to, in all cases, respond to each one. When recurring themes emerge or helpful suggestions are received, they will be passed on to appropriate DDSB staff.
During major emerging or live breaking issues, we will address major themes to the wider audience, as opposed to answering each DM and @reply.
Comments, photos, links and posts made in the @DurhamDSB stream do not necessarily reflect the views of the Durham District School Board. Personal attacks, offensive language and unsubstantiated allegations will not be allowed and may be deleted. Spam will be reported as such.
Student and staff participation on the @Durham DSB Twitter account is governed by DDSB acceptable and Safe Use procedures for technology, Codes of Conduct and Social Media policies and procedures.
We ask that anyone interacting with us through the @DurhamDSB feed be respectful and constructive, and respect the diverse population the DDSB serves.
