The Durham District School Board is pleased to let you know the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has reached tentative agreements with the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Public School Boards' Association, which represents the province's public school boards. The tentative agreement requires ratification by ETFO's members by November 13, 2015.
As a result of the tentative agreements, ETFO has agreed to bring province-wide job actions to a close while these agreements are finalized over the next month. Also, student progress reports will be issued slightly later than scheduled and will be distributed by December 11, 2015. Parent interviews, scheduled for November 20, 2015, will not take place. Teachers will initiate interviews should they have a concern about your child's progress. Once you have received your child's progress report, please contact your child's teacher directly should you have any questions.
As a reminder to families, Kindergarten students do not receive fall progress reports. As always, we encourage you to contact your child's teacher any time you have questions or concerns about your child's progress. Teachers are committed to ongoing communication with parents regarding student progress.
Locally, negotiations between the Durham District School Board and ETFO are continuing and we are hopeful that an agreement can be reached with no interruption to the school year. The DDSB will continue to keep families informed as our talks continue.
The DDSB remains committed to reaching fair and equitable agreements with all employee groups. We thank families for their patience and understanding as we continue negotiations and the finalization of agreements.
