Anderson CVI Empowers Female Students With “Girls Night In” Event

"Girls Night In" is an empowerment event for 120 of our current Grade 9 and Grade 8 students transitioning to Anderson. Inspired by Malala Yousafzai's words, the event's mission statement is "I want every girl to know that her voice can change the world."

Anderson has invited members of the community, from women in public service to women in business, to help empower students. Guests include: Christine Elliott – Anderson graduate and former MPP Whitby-Oshawa; Katie Zeppieri – keynote speaker and founder of Girl Talk Empowerment; Laura Hesp – creator of clothing brand Inclusive Love Inc.; members of the Durham Regional Police Service, and many other community partners.

5:00 pm – Doors open

5:00 pm to 6:45 pm – Guests to visit stations and booths supporting empowerment

6:45 pm to 7:15 pm – Dinner

7:30 pm to 8:15 pm – Guest speakers

8:15 pm – Swag bags, door prizes & wrap-up

8:30 pm – Concluding statements
