Junior and Senior Kindergarten Program
The Durham District School Board's (DDSB) Kindergarten program is a child-centred, inclusive learning environment for four-and-five year olds.
​ 
Junior and senior Kindergarten programs are optional and offer:
  • an inquiry play-based model
  • comprehensive curriculum: personal and social development; language; mathematics; science and technology; arts, health and physical education
  • average class size of 26 students to two educators
  • variety of early learning programs for ages 0-5
  • before and after care programs available
REGISTERING FOR KINDERGARTEN
SEPTEMBER 2018

Your child must be four years old by December 31, 2018 to attend Junior Kindergarten and, to begin Senior Kindergarten in September 2018, a child must be five years old by December 31, 2018.
Great Beginnings start at the DDSB
Please note the system will not allow you to register your child in Kindergarten for September 2018 prior to January 15, 2018.  

For any technical barriers experienced by our families, please visit or contact your home school – our staff would happily provide a space to complete your online registration or assist with any concerns you may have. Proof of the child’s birth date and other information will be requested later. If the number of students pre-registered for a class exceeds the class limit, some students may be required to attend another school.

Busing
DDSB's policy (#3545) on transportation includes both junior and senior kindergarten students.

If you live in Durham Region and want to register your child(ren) in a DDSB school that is not your child's school designation, please refer to this Procedure for more information.

Before and After Child Care
Many of our schools also provide before and after child care.  The before and after child care programs are optional, offered for a fee to parents and requires a minimum of 15 students at any one site.  Please contact your designated home school offering Kindergarten to indicate your interest in the before and after child care option for your child(ren).
 
Class Size
If the number of students pre-registered for a class exceeds the class limit, some students may be required to attend another school.
