First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education
​​The Durham District School Board is committed to student success and providing a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students, including First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students.
As part of this commitment, we are implementing the Ontario First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Education Policy Framework which provides direction in a holistic and integrated approach to achieving the following Ministry goals:

            • Ensuring Equity
            • Promoting Well-Being
            • Enhancing Public Confidence​
The First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Department strives to achieve these goals by:
  • Raising awareness of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures, histories, and perspectives
  • Strengthening students’ sense of identity and foster positive self-image
  • Providing culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy to increase student achievement
  • Engaging community members and organizations in ongoing dialogue.​
