Frenchman's Bay Public School is one of two in the Pickering area. Frenchman's is situated in the south end of Pickering bordering the shores of Lake Ontario. Our school supports the arts, athletics and academics by providing a wide range of rich learning opportunities for our students.

Literacy and Numeracy continue to remain at the forefront of our school improvement planning. Professional development and resources are directed towards improving student achievement in these areas. Students in French Immersion do not begin English instruction until grade 4, thus our grade 3 French Immersion students only complete the math portion of the EQAO testing. Grade 6 students write all components of the EQAO assessment.

As a learning team , our staff builds capacity for high levels of student achievement and well-being. As a team we continue to refine our focus on high yield strategies to support student achievement. Our process has increased teacher precision in matching high yield strategies to student needs. Our work has reinforced our professional commitment to increasing student achievement and closing gaps.

As a team our success is a result of working together. The move from private to public space for both individual teachers and staff allows ideas to be explored. Inquiry is changing the beliefs and attitudes of staff and students. It is this continuous process of improvement that results in increased student achievement.
