The Duffin’s Bay community continues to be very safety conscious. When arriving at the school’s front from the southeast side of the school students should enter by the fence line from the driveway into the school yard. When entering from the northeast, students should follow the pedestrian crossing marked on the pavement.
We encourage families to walk to school as often as possible, as part of a healthy, active lifestyle. We recognize that occasionally, families may need to drive children to school. On such occasions, we encourage those parents who still wish to drive their children to and from school to utilize alternative streets that surround the school as illustrated in the map below.
These alternative streets include the following:
· Slater Crescent;
· Swanston Crescent;
· Panter Crescent;
· Burden Crescent; and
· Bolland Crescent.
These alternative pick-up and drop-off areas are safe, well-maintained and directly connected to the school via pedestrian pathways.
Furthermore, families and guests are reminded our parking lot is a busy place in the morning. Please note that our buses arrive between 8:40 a.m. and 8:55 a.m. Visitors, including supply staff, and families, who arrive during this time period, are asked to park on Pittmann Crescent or one of the alternative streets. Please do not enter the parking lot at the South End of the parking lot (marked "Do Not Enter"). This will prevent potentially dangerous situations for our students who are crossing the sidewalk and entering the school yard at the south end.
Please be aware that safety is always a primary concern. Please slow down in school zones, be aware of children who may be crossing the street, come to a complete stop at stop signs, and, most of all, be patient.
