Blue Spruce

(JK - Grade 2 picture books)

The Blue Spruce™ Award program brings recently published Canadian children's picture books to children between the ages of 4 and 7 (junior kindergarten to grade two). For many children, this is their first introduction to the world of books. This program promotes reading for enjoyment and begins to develop a child’s skill in evaluating a picture book based on story, text and pictures.

 Patron Info

Student Library Cards
Each student has a library card with a unique barcode number. These cards are kept on file in the library. They are used in conjunction with our automated library circulation system to ensure that there is a record of the materials that each student checks out of the library. Students are expected to check out all materials borrowed from the library and will be responsible for all materials checked out under their account.

Material Limit
Each student is allowed to check out one book at a time. Exceptions are sometimes made to accommodate multiple classroom projects (at the discretion of the librarian).

Loan Period
All borrowed materials are due back to the library within two weeks of the check out date.

Renewals
Materials may be renewed as long as no holds have been placed by other students/staff members.

Holds
Holds may be placed on most library materials. Please see the librarian to place or cancel a hold.

Lost/Damaged Material
Students are responsible to return Bolton C. Falby library books in good condition. If borrowed material is lost or damaged a note will be sent home indicating the cost of replacement. Please do not purchase a replacement yourself as it may not be the same version as the copy lost (i.e. library-bound, hardcover, etc.). The librarian will order a replacement copy that both meets our needs and matches our automated circulation records.

Borrowing Privileges Suspended
Borrowing privileges will be suspended if a student has not returned library materials that they have borrowed, or if there are outstanding lost/damaged library book fees.
