Physical Health Education

​Program Description

Classes in Physical Education allow students to improve their physical health and their attitude towards exercise and a healthy active lifestyle. They participate in various sports and activities, working co-operatively within a team, as well as individually. Possible areas of interest include fitness, weight training, a variety of team and individual sports, recreational activities, leadership, adaptive physical education, outdoor education and exercise science. A number of health related topics are covered aiming to provide students with tools allowing them to make healthy choices.
 
The purchase of a uniform is necessary for students to participate in physical education classes. The uniform consists of 2 Henry Street T-shirts and one pair of shorts.
 

Preparation for the Future

Courses in the Physical Education department will prepare students for post-secondary education in the Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, Athletic Training and Therapy, Sports Management, Fitness Training, Recreation and any of the Health Sciences. The knowledge students have gained will open career options in the above areas, as well as Education.

Henry Athletics

Henry Street High School offers a wide variety of Sports and Athletic programs, catering to both the male and female population. Henry Street High School students also run an active Athletic Council (HAC) in support of the overall athletic program. The Henry Athletic Council also runs a wide ranging intramural program including activities like sportsline, dodgeball, teacher/student badminton, and coed volleyball.
