Ignite Learning
Regional Centre for Success
The Centre for Success, Dual-Credit College Program, School College Work Initiative, is a student success program for selected schools and students within the Durham DSB. Students will have the opportunity to take high school courses, as well as a College course, with the aim of fulfilling their remaining requirements for graduation from Grade 12. Over half of the secondary schools in the Durham DSB participate in the program each year, with the majority of the students successfully completing the program.
Advantages of the Program
  • Recover 1-3 credits (courses which you previously did not pass)
  • Earn an additional credit (i.e. instead of 4 credits per semester, have the opportunity to earn 5 or more)
  • Earn a credit at College, which would also count as a high school credit to be used towards obtaining an OSSD (dual-credit course)
  • Earn a college credit free of tuition fees
  • Access to all of the College's state-of-the-art facilities
  • Be part of a college environment
  • Learn about the various course pathways offered by the College
  • Learn skills for entering college or the workplace
  • Benefit from small class size
  • Be with students your own age

@ Durham College
The Regional Centre for Success Program @ Durham College is designed to provide Grade 12 students with an opportunity to earn enough credits to achieve an Ontario Secondary School Diploma by the end of the semester. In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to earn one college credit (Dual Credit). Students in the Regional Centre for Success Program @ Durham College will attend Monday to Thursday for the full school day. Fridays are not mandatory attendance days unless extra help is required. We ask that you use your Fridays to book medical or other appointments to avoid missing classes during the week. This will also provide you with the opportunity to complete community involvement hours, assignments for course work, or for part time employment. It is essential that you attend EVERY DAY. There will be a very strict attendance and late policy.
