Family Support and School Readiness Hubs

Durham District School Board (DDSB) together with Early Years service providers operate school-based Family Support and Early Years Hubs. These hubs offer free programming for families with children between the ages of 0 and 5.

K is for Kindergarten program

K is for Kindergarten is a free program to help families prepare their child for Kindergarten.

Program details

K is for Kindergarten includes 8 sessions that will help you and your child prepare for Kindergarten. Your child will take part in a play-based curriculum that focuses on the development of:

  • Early math skills
  • Social skills
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Language and literacy
You will be given tools and strategies to create a smooth transition into Kindergarten.
Topics include:
  • Self-regulation
  • Learning styles
  • Communication with your child
