COVID and Illness Absence Tracker

This page contains information on the number of student and staff absences due to self-reported illness, self-reported positive COVID-19 test results from Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) or rapid antigen tests, school absence rates due to illness and any schools closed due to operational needs or by the Durham Region Health Department (DRHD). This information can be found as part of the COVID-19 Absence Tracker at the bottom of this page. For the purposes of this tracker, absences due to illness can be defined as students who are ill for any reason and includes students who have tested positive for COVID-19 and students who are quarantining due to COVID-19.

Our goal is to be as transparent as possible with families with this data. This data is self-reported by parents/guardians and/or staff through normal absence reporting processes and we cannot guarantee the accuracy of it. It is meant to be a snapshot of the current COVID-19 situation and absences due to illness in schools and workplaces for the previous school day.

The Ministry of Health has indicated that public health units will no longer be dismissing classes.

If absences exceed 30% of the school population, we are required by the Ministry of Health to inform the Durham Region Health Department who may provide additional direction to the school community.
