The Board recognizes the value of celebrating the significant anniversary dates of a school. The board shall commemorate a new school opening and the 25th, 50th and 75th anniversaries of a school with the gift of a plaque to be displayed in the school. The plaque shall be presented to the school by the trustee(s) representing the voting area in which the school is situated. In the absence of the area trustee(s), the Chairperson of the Board shall make the presentation.

The names of the trustees on the board at the time of the official opening/anniversary presentation shall be inscribed on the plaque. The names of the director of education, area superintendent, principal, vice principal and school council chairperson and the date of the official opening/anniversary presentation of the plaque shall be included. No academic degrees shall be shown.
