1.0 The Board recognizes the paramount importance of the budget in relation to the responsibilities and functions of the Board and directs as follows:

• The Budget shall be approved by June 30 of each year.
• A number of Education Finance Committee meetings, as considered necessary, shall be held for the purpose of review, consideration and recommendation for approval of the annual draft budget.
• For the purpose of school management and principal accountability, a group of specific budget functions shall be placed annually within a Board determined expenditure ceiling and the Principals in consultation with their staffs and subject to administrative regulations shall develop priorities and allocate resources within the total approved budget for each school.
