Safe Arrivals Policy

Positive School Climates, Mental Health & Well-Being


1.0 Parents and guardians are responsible for their children's safety*. A Safe Arrival practice is a mechanism that parents and schools can use to account for any pupil's unexplained failure to arrive at school.

1.1 The Durham District School Board supports and encourages the implementation of Safe Arrival practice in 
all of its elementary schools. Parents, guardians and school community councils should be involved in the 
development or review, implementation and evaluation of a school Safe Arrival program.
