1.0 The Board believes that the responsibility for the administration of medication for students under its jurisdiction is the responsibility of the student's parent(s), and/or guardian(s).

1.1 The Board recognizes that there are special cases where a student must have prescriptive medication during regular school hours.

1.2 It is the Board's policy that, in such cases, where it is not possible for the parent or guardian or qualified medical practitioner to do so, the Board will allow for the administration of prescriptive, oral medication by school staff, in accordance with such regulations and procedures as established from time to time.

1.3 Nothing in the above policy precludes school staff from acting in the best interest of a student in an emergency situation.
