1.0 The Durham District School Board will make every effort to provide a safe environment for students and employees. At the same time, the laws providing confidentiality to the student or employee infected with a communicable disease will be fully enforced in co-operation with the Ministry of Health and the Medical Officer of Health.

1.1 Recognizing that education has a vital role to play in the prevention of transmission of communicable 
diseases, instruction about certain of these illnesses, including AIDS, shall be included in the curriculum.
