1.0 The Education Act places no mandatory responsibility for school boards to provide transportation. Accordingly, it is understood that transportation is a privilege, not a right.

2.0 The Durham District School Board believes there are conditions that may warrant the provision of transportation for certain pupils. Transportation may be provided to students, determined to be eligible in accordance with Regulation #3545, subject to the limitation of Board motion 1988:243 - "That the amendments to Transportation Policy #3545 be implemented when adequate Budgetary provision is made."

3.0 Transportation services may be integrated with the co-terminous district school boards, where possible, in the interest of cost efficiency.
