DDSB Elects Chair and Committee Membership for 2022 At the Board Meeting of the Durham District School Board (DDSB) held on Monday, December 6, 2021, Trustees elected a Chairperson and committee members for 2022. Over the course of 2021, Trustees have successfully come together to continue their important role in providing stability in public education during a period of continued change and provincial directions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Increasing Positive Outcomes Through Cannabis Education Educator training modules on substance use are in development to support staff and students The Durham District School Board (DDSB) recently partnered with Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB), Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPRDSB) and the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) to create an educator’s guide aimed at de-stigmatizing and expanding education about cannabis use. “By creating an informed staff group who use non-stigmatizing language when addressing and teaching about healthy choices and substance use, we increase the likelihood of positive outcomes for our students and staff,” says Dan Hogan, Substance Use and Violence Prevention Co-ordinator at the DDSB.

2021-2022 School Year Calendar Durham District School Board's (DDSB) upcoming 2021-2022 school year calendars for elementary and secondary schools have been approved by the Ministry of Education. The 2021-2022 school year will begin for students on the following dates: Regular Calendar Schools (Elementary and Secondary) - Thursday, September 9, 2021Modified Elementary Schools - Tuesday, August 10, 2021Modified Secondary Schools - Monday, August 30, 2021There will be no early dismissal for the first day of school and on the last day before the December break (Friday, December 17, 2021) for all schools.
