Become a member of the Parent Involvement Committee

The Durham District School Board’s Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is calling for applications for volunteer Parent/Guardian Representatives of DDSB students from all areas – Ajax, Whitby, Pickering, Oshawa, and the North (Brock, Uxbridge, Scugog).

Expressions of interest for the role of Community Representative are also being accepted from individuals who are not parents/guardians of DDSB students, but still want to be involved.

  • Do you have ideas on how schools can engage parents and the community?
  • Do you want to have a say in what happens in your child’s school and provide advice to The Board?
  • Do you want to help plan and execute events and activities that will enhance your child’s school experience and well-being?
  • Do you want to support your child’s learning at school and at home?

The Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is a collective of like-minded individuals who work to better the experience of children and parents/guardians at school and in their community. The PIC’s primary role is to enhance student achievement and well-being by working collaboratively with The Board to support equitable and inclusive education for all students. PIC members have their voice heard by actively participating in Board meetings, School Councils, and events based on the needs of the school and community. PIC members provide advice and recommendations on what happens throughout the school year, so join our efforts and have your voice heard. Apply to be a PIC member today!

Qualifications for Consideration:

You may qualify as a Parent/Guardian Representative if you have a child(ren)/ward currently enrolled in a DDSB school.

You may qualify as a Community Representative if you live in the Durham Region in which you desire to serve. You need not have a child in DDSB schools.

Active involvement is essential! PIC meetings are held 4-6 times per school year and all selected PIC members are expected to attend these meetings in addition to select school and community events throughout the year.

All PIC members are expected to adhere to applicable DDSB policies and procedures and to activities and interactions which can be found at ddsb.ca. support and uphold DDSB’s commitments to Indigenous Rights and Human Rights in all PIC activities and interactions which can be found at ddsb.ca.
