Build it UP Blitz!

Posted On Thursday November 07, 2019

The Durham District School Board (DDSB) and Habitat for Humanity have partnered to create a series of days that allow Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) and Construction Technology students to engage in learning, career-exploring and contributing to Habitat's Oshawa home building site in Oshawa. Students will experience what it is like on a real job site. They will also participate in safety and awareness training, skills development, and experience industry presentations from qualified tradespeople. They will have the opportunity to network and build an understanding of the work that Habitat for Humanity does for the community, including providing homes for those in need, and stocking/running their Habitat ReStore.

Students will also learn how to continue to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and sustain a partnership that is rewarding, giving and uses their skills in the trades they have acquired as SHSM and Construction Technology students.
