Parent Reaching Out Grants
Durham District School Board (DDSB) recognizes parents as key partners in education and we are committed to finding ways to get more parents involved.
The Parent Reaching Out (PRO) Grants program provides funding to school boards to work with parent stakeholder groups, School Community Councils and/or Parent Involvement Committees to lead projects with a focus on the identification and removal of barriers that may prevent parents and families from participating and engaging fully in their children’s learning.
Ministry Commitments
- Provide a safe and welcoming school environment;
- Maintain open communication with teachers;
- Respect parents as valued partners within the education system in relation to decisions about their child’s education; and
- Ensure parents are informed about the content of the Ontario Curriculum Guidelines
The DDSB Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) engages with School Community Councils, school leaders and other parent/guardian stakeholder to support the development and implementation of projects that meet the Ministry’s goals as defined above.
Apply for the PRO Grant
The DDSB continues to explore collaborative PRO Grants that include a number of school communities and community partners working together. Collaboration between communities is essential as we work together to effectively utilize the funds available and provide various opportunities for parent, guardian and family engagement.
