Autism Resource Services

The Autism Resource team (ART) supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the Durham District School Board (DDSB). The team consists of Board certified behaviour analysts, special education facilitators and speech and language pathologists.

We ensure educators have the resources they need to support the education of students with ASD.

For parents

If you think your child may have ASD, you should schedule an assessment with your health care professional. The sooner ASD is identified, the faster we can give your child the classroom support they need.

If your child has ASD, become familiar with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) to find out what resources are available. The Inclusive Student Services team (ISS) and school staff will support your child's education and development. If the ISS team feels your child needs additional support, they will submit a referral to us for further resources. ART can collaborate with community organizations that are supporting your child.

For educators

If you have a student with ASD in your class or school, it is important that you have all of the resources necessary to support their learning in an inclusive and supportive environment. You can first consult with your school's ISS team to help you develop a plan to support the student's needs. The ISS team will submit a referral to the ART if they feel additional support is necessary.
