Tutoring Secondary Grades 9-12

Through funding provided by the Ministry of Education’s Learning Recovery Action Plan, the Durham District school board is pleased to provide school-based ‘during the day’ tutoring support for students from Grades 9 to 12, with a focus on students in Grade 9. All school-assigned tutors are qualified educators who hold Ontario College of Teachers certification. Our tutors work closely with classroom educators, school support staff, and school administrators to provide responsive, differentiated instruction focused on literacy and mathematics curriculum knowledge and skills.

Tutoring sessions may include:

  • individual and/or small group instruction within your child’s classroom, and/or
  • Small group lessons facilitated in another learning space within the school

Either way, the tutoring supports are designed to ensure that participating students are provided with an opportunity to have their learning needs and next steps addressed through high-yield instructional and assessment approaches so that they may be successful within their classroom and grade-level curriculum.

Participating students request support in collaboration with their educators. If you have any questions regarding this process, please reach out to your child’s home school administrator.
