Durham Elementary Athletic Association (DEAA) folk dance has more than 3,000 student athletes. Coaching begins early in the year with preparation for the folk dance jamboree in May at the Iroquois Park Arena.
Folk dance jamboree
This year's jamboree is May 6, 7 and 8 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. nightly. The jamboree is at the Iroquois Park Sports Complex in Whitby.
This is the major folk dance event of the year with 3 nights of competition and more than 2,000 spectators. The jamboree has about 1,000 dance participants.
